23. Original 2001: A Space Odyssey Cinerama Film Program 1968
This page reproduces the cover from a souvenir book for 2001, of which several versions in two markedly different shapes were released and sold at cinemas / theatres in the UK and the US (other countries, such as Japan, had their own versions).
This version measured approximately
sixteen inches (405mm) wide and seven- and- a- quarter inches (185mm) high, and
came with two different covers, one similar to the other version's silver cover
and the other showing a detail from Robert McCall's painting of the space
station. I believe the second version was shaped to represent the Cinerama wide
screen. A black- and- white version of the "long" book with McCall cover was
also available.
