History: Comic Book Guy's reputation as an obsessive-compulsive collector
was well-established in Springfield, but no one realized the true depth of his
madness until he was revealed to be a full-fledged supervillain who kidnapped
celebrities and stored them in Mylar pouches in a secret underground lair
beneath his comic shop. Before The Collector was finally defeated, he was able
to preserve a number of cult icons in near-mint condition, including Leonard
Nimoy (as Spock from "Star Trek"), Yasmine Bleeth (as Caroline Holden from
"Baywatch"), Bob Denver (as Gilligan from "Gilligan's Island"), Tom Baker (as
Doctor Who), Jeri Ryan (as Seven of Nine from "Star Trek: Voyager"), Robot (from
"Lost In Space"), and Matt Groening (the creator of Futurama). He was on the
verge of adding
Lucy Lawless (star of "Xena: Warrior Princess") to his collection when
Stretch Dude &
Clobber Girl arrived to rescue her (although in the end it was she who had
to rescue them). After finding himself on the receiving end of a spectacular
beating from Lawless, The Collector succumbed to the fate he'd had planned for
the pair of junior superheroes, and plunged into a giant vat of Lucite, to be
preserved for all eternity.
